MTT Payouts

MTT (Multi-Table Tournament) payouts refer to the prize distribution structure used in poker tournaments that involve multiple tables of players. The payouts are awarded to a certain percentage of the field, with the top finishers receiving larger shares of the prize pool.

Navigate to Settings -> MTT Payouts

By clicking on "Add Prize Pool," you can set up the payout structure. Please note that this system is designed to work on percentage-based calculations, meaning the total entered percentage value must equal 100. Here's how it works with an example.

How MTT Payouts Work

  1. Prize Pool Creation

    • The total prize pool is generated from the buy-ins paid by all participants.

    • For example, if 100 players each pay a $100 buy-in, the prize pool would be $10,000.

  2. Payout Structure

    • The tournament organizers determine the payout structure, typically paying the top 10-15% of participants.

    • The payout structure is often tiered, meaning higher finishers receive exponentially larger payouts.

  3. Payout Distribution Example

    • Let's assume a tournament with 100 players and a $10,000 prize pool.

    • The payout structure might look like this for the top 10% (10 players):

      Place
      Payout Percentage
      Payout Amount

      1st

      30%

      $3,000

      2nd

      20%

      $2,000

      3rd

      15%

      $1,500

      4th

      10%

      $1,000

      5th

      8%

      $800

      6th

      7%

      $700

      7th

      5%

      $500

      8th

      3%

      $300

      9th

      1.5%

      $150

      10th

      0.5%

      $50

  4. Factors Affecting Payouts

    • The number of participants: More players typically mean a larger prize pool and more payout positions.

    • Buy-in amount: Higher buy-ins lead to larger prize pools.

    • Tournament rules: Each tournament might have its unique payout structure, which is usually disclosed before the tournament starts.

Example Scenario

Imagine you enter an MTT with 200 players, each paying a $50 buy-in, creating a $10,000 prize pool. The payout structure awards the top 20% of players (40 players), with the payouts distributed as follows:

  1. 1st Place: 25% of the prize pool ($2,500)

  2. 2nd Place: 15% of the prize pool ($1,500)

  3. 3rd Place: 10% of the prize pool ($1,000)

  4. 4th Place: 8% of the prize pool ($800)

  5. 5th Place: 6% of the prize pool ($600)

  6. 6th-10th Place: 4% each of the prize pool ($400 each)

  7. 11th-20th Place: 2% each of the prize pool ($200 each)

  8. 21st-40th Place: 1% each of the prize pool ($100 each)

MTT payouts ensure that top-performing players are rewarded, with higher positions receiving larger portions of the prize pool. The exact distribution depends on the tournament's rules and the number of participants. This payout structure motivates players to aim for higher finishes to maximize their potential winnings.
